AUSTIN, TX (October 7, 2008) – Sabertec, (

www.ecooptimized.com) and IDPF, breakthrough environmental technologies that reduce harmful emissions caused by gasoline and diesel engines, announces its second round of funding from key influential investors. Strategic investors include David Friedson, former Chairman and CEO of Applica (NYSE-APN), an $800 million consumer products company, Francis X Tirelli, former CEO of Herbalife and current Chairman and CEO of Deloite and Touche, Italy and Rob Loughan, Chairman of the Board, Dexterra Corporation. Sabertec is on the vanguard of solving environmental challenges through technology, education and the inspiration of behavioral change. This new funding will be used to conduct further IDPF and Blade testing, further the adoption of Blade in the United States, and for overall expansion of the business.
Blade, a new environmental technology that easily attaches to a tailpipe of a car, SUV or light-duty truck reduces CO2 emissions up to 12% and captures emissions of toxic particulate material (PM) while increasing fuel economy up to six miles per gallon in laboratory testing. Consumer experiences on a wide variety of cars, light duty trucks and SUV’s in the U.S., Europe and Latin America have resulted in gas mileage increase up to 34% on 4 cylinder cars (e.g. Honda Civics), 21% on light duty trucks and SUV’s (e.g. Chevy Avalanches), 16% on dual exhaust 8- cylinder sedans (e.g. Lincoln Town Cars, Crown Victoria’s), 24% on 10 cylinder Box-style trucks (i.e. moving trucks).
“The crew at Sabertec, pioneers of emission reduction technologies, have embarked on a noble mission to develop affordable environmental solutions that drastically reduce air pollution on a global level,” said David Friedson, former Chairman and CEO of Applica (NYSE-APN). “I’m honored to be an early adopter of Blade and an investor in Sabertec. Being a parent in NYC, I am very aware that toxic particulate material (PM) emissions from vehicles are the cause for increased cases of asthma and other dangerous respiratory diseases in children. Knowing that Blade and IDPF prevent toxic PM from entering my child’s lungs is empowering. The thirty percent increase I’m getting in fuel economy from Blade is really just a bonus.”
According to Tirelli, “Blade’s silver lining is that you don’t have to be an eco-warrior to appreciate its environmental effects. Because Blade offers a financial benefit - fuel savings – its potential to drive major environmental and financial changes in this country, including improved air quality and less dependence on foreign oil will quickly become a reality.”
“Blade is distinctly different from other emissions reduction technologies or fuel economy products on the market today. Blade has scientifically proven laboratory results, from the Nation’s leading emissions measurement center, the Automotive Testing and Development, Inc that is also accepted by the Environmental Protection Agency. The results show a significant emissions reduction and fuel economy increase,” said Rob Loughan, Chairman of the Board, Dexterra Corporation. “In addition, the technological feat of creating a product that fits on a tailpipe without creating backpressure was the ‘ah-ha’ moment for me.”
“Sabertec is poised for dramatic growth. The breadth of experience of our investment group in the consumer marketplace is as important as the funding itself in preparing us to meet the increasing demand for our innovative environmental technologies,” said Bill O’Brien, CEO, Sabertec.
Blade Proven Using the EPA 511 Protocol
Blade has been tested in the country’s most stringent emissions labs including the Automotive Testing and Development Services, Inc. (ATDS), a California based, independent testing laboratory, which is accepted by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) and is licensed by the California Air Resources Board (CARB). Blade works in three different ways:
- Acts a filter, capturing particulate material (PM) as well as other solid inorganic emissions that would otherwise end up in the air
- Improves the efficiency of the catalytic converter – lowers emissions
- Increases volumetric efficiency of the engine – helps your engine burn more efficiently thereby increasing fuel economy and reducing CO2
